Attempted Kidnapping Arrest Made in Mankato

Mankato – On 4/3/24 at approximately 1:42 am, Department of Public Safety police officers were called to 1200 South Riverfront Drive for a report of an attempted kidnapping. While the apparent target of the kidnapping was working her shift, she observed a male customer acting suspicious. She stated that she recognized him from the previous week when he was in the store. The victim observed the male come into and leave the store on two occasions prior to the assault.  The male suspect is reported to have approached the victim, attempting to pull her toward the exit while threatening to harm her. She fought off the suspect who eventually fled the store. Officers later located 22-year-old Mankato resident Dalton Robert Redning in the area and arrested him as he fit the suspect description. Redning has been charged with kidnapping, threats of violence and harassment.
