Mankato Department of Public Safety June 2025 Crime Report
The Mankato Department of Public Safety’s June 2025 report shows mixed trends in public safety, with overall criminal offenses holding steady year-to-date but notable fluctuations in specific categories. Group A offenses, which include serious crimes like assault and theft, totaled 268 in June—unchanged from the previous year. However, year-to-date totals dipped 4% compared to 2024. Assaults were down 15% in June but still up 13% for the year, while residential burglaries nearly doubled year-to-date, rising 91%.
Group B offenses, which include less serious but quality-of-life crimes, dropped 24% in June compared to last year. Driving under the influence incidents saw a significant decline, down 47% for the month and 24% year-to-date. Meanwhile, “All Other Offenses,” a broad category that includes various non-index crimes, rose 22% year-to-date. Total arrests were down for both adults (-27%) and juveniles (-29%) in June, though adult arrests remain slightly up overall in 2025.
Traffic enforcement and safety data reflected similar contrasts. Traffic citations dropped 23% in June, but year-to-date totals surged 49%, suggesting heightened enforcement earlier in the year. Motor vehicle crashes without injuries fell 19% in June, while crashes with injuries dropped 40%. Animal-related calls and fire incidents saw sharp declines, but medical and emergency rescue calls increased by 41% for the month.
Fire loss estimates fell dramatically from over $2 million in June 2024 to just $8,050 this June, driven by fewer major fire incidents. However, false alarms remained common, and neighborhood nuisance complaints rose 47%, indicating ongoing community concerns. Overall calls for police service are up 3% year-to-date, showing consistent demand for public safety response.
