A Minnesota non-profit is launching an initiative to install outdoor AED cabinets in the Mankato and North Mankato area in memory of Faith Larsen.
The project aims to enhance community safety and accessibility to life-saving equipment. February is Heart Health Awareness Month dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease, its risk factors, and preventive measures.
You’re invited to a special ribbon-cutting ceremony Thurs. Feb. 27 at 10AM at the Mankato West High School and 1PM at Wheeler Park in North Mankato.
This important initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between Terry, Roxanne, Jennifer, Brian and Samantha Larsen, Mankato Area Public Schools, the City of North Mankato, Miss Minnesota Emily Schumacher, Riley Hardel, Avive Connect AED, Archer Daniels Midland, Jack Links, Benco Electric Cooperative, BLK Electric and many generous donors.
This project was inspired by Miss Minnesota Emily Schumacher and Riley Hardel after the tragic loss of their friend, Faith Larsen who is a graduate of Mankato West High School. In response, a group of friends from Mankato and North Mankato, connected to Larsen Family, came together to implement a plan to install these innovative Outdoor Smart Monitored AED Cabinets. These cabinets will be accessible to the public 24/7, 365 days a year, ensuring that life-saving equipment is available when it’s needed most.
In the weeks following the installation of the Outdoor AED Smart Monitored Cabinet, an informative session open to the community will be held. This session will provide valuable education on how to perform CPR, use an AED, and access the AED from the Outdoor Cabinet. Minutes matter in emergency situations, and by empowering community members with this knowledge, we can truly make a difference in saving lives. We encourage everyone to attend and take part in this essential training!
