Authorities Locate Missing Child After Search in Cordova Township

Le Sueur County Sheriff Brett Mason reports that on Monday, September 15, 2025 at approximately 6:06 p.m.  Le Sueur County Deputies responded to 20583 Dodd Road in Cordova Township for a report of a 2 ½ year-old female that was suspected of walking off into a corn field.

Le Sueur County Deputies along with Le Center Police Department, Le Center Fire Department, Cleveland Fire Department, Montgomery Fire Department, Kilkenny Fire Department, New Prague Fire Department and Le Sueur Fire Department began a systematic search of the corn field South of the residence.  The search included first responders walking the rows of the corn field supported by drones in the air.

At approximately 7:16 p.m. first responders located the juvenile female approximately one third of a mile South of the residence amongst the corn rows.  The juvenile female was evaluated by Le Center Ambulance Service Personnel on scene and was deemed to have sustained no injury.

The Minnesota State Patrol along with Blue Earth and Rice County Sheriff’s Offices were also enroute with additional helicopter and drone support.
