Caswell Sports has announced they have received the James Farrell  Award for the sixth straight year by USA Softball. This award is given in recognition of running  exceptional national tournaments and the host city must receive an overall rating of 95 percent  from the ASA/USA Softball Representative, Umpire-in-Chief and National Office.

The James  Farrell Award of Excellence is named in honor of former St. Louis ASA/USA Softball  commissioner and National Office Staff member James Farrell. Caswell Sports hosted the 18B  Northern National Tournament in 2022, which qualified them for this award.

“USA Softball is excited to conduct state and national tournaments in North Mankato,” says  USA Softball Minnesota Commissioner Dan Pfeffer. “With the massive improvements to the  entire Caswell Park facility, we are confident participation and visitors to North Mankato will continue to increase and patrons will enjoy the park’s upgraded amenities.”

“It has been a pleasure working with Dan and USA Softball over the last 6 years of hosting  national tournaments. These tournaments have given us the opportunity to bring teams to North  Mankato from around the country and now the world, with the Men’s Major Tournament in  2023,” remarked Caswell Sports Director Phil Tostenson. “We are excited about the facility’s  improvements to the lights, the expanded dugouts, concession upgrades, and our new streaming  service that will allow us to broadcast games around the world. We look forward to our  continued partnership with Dan and USA Softball for many years to come.”

“The City of North Mankato is grateful to USA Softball for again recognizing Caswell Park with  the James Farrell Award,” said Mayor of North Mankato Mark Dehen. “We are proud of the efforts of the Caswell Park staff, and thankful for the local partnerships with businesses and  hotels. This community effort proves Caswell Park to be one of the true gems of competitive  softball facilities in the country!”

In the summer of 2023, Caswell Sports will host the Girls 10A & 12A West National  Championships and the Men’s Major Fastpitch National Championship, which has not been held  in North Mankato since 1990. Caswell Park is currently under construction as improvements to  the facility are being completed including new backstops, netting, fences, scoreboards, streaming  services, restrooms, concessions, and lights. These improvements are made possible by the  bonding dollars North Mankato received from the state legislature in 2019. The upgraded facility  will make its debut to visitors and players in April for the 2023 season.
