Blue Earth makes plans for City Hall

The Blue Earth City Council discussed the future location of Blue Earth’s City Hall Tuesday, January 16. The new City Hall will be located at the former Wells Fargo building on E. Seventh Street in Blue Earth. The city purchased the building last November, according to the Faribault County Register, for the purpose of relocating City Hall to a more secure building.

The council hopes to complete the relocation project by the end of 2024.

The council approved the publication of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for architectural services for the project on Dec. 18, and city administrator Mary Kennedy said the RFQ generated 14 bids.

County Board To Amend Ordinance

The Faribault County Board of Commissioners received a request during their meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from Sara Hauskins, the Planning and Zoning administrator. She asked the commissioners to pass a resolution directing the Planning and Zoning Commission to come up with an amendment to the Faribault County Subdivision Ordinance. The amended ordinance would require county review of a deed or other instrument conveying a parcel for transference or division. The amendment would have splitting or combining of land parcels conform to the county’s land use regulations. After discussion among the County Board they voted to direct the Planning and Zoning Commission to create an amended ordinance. A public hearing would also be required to be held before the matter can be brought back for final approval.
