Help Prevent Motor Vehicle Theft

Mankato-Help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of motor vehicle theft by locking vehicle doors and thinking about what attracts a thief. Most incidents occur because doors are unlocked or vehicles are left running and unattended.

To help prevent vehicle theft:

• Remove keys from vehicle.
• Keep windows up, doors locked and the interior empty.
• Remove or place power cords for electronic devices out of sight because they indicate items may be in a glove box or console.
• Park in well-lit areas.
• Remove valuables from inside.
