House fire on Chatsworth Drive causes significant damage

Mankato Department of Public Safety was called to a structure fire at 105 Chatsworth Drive around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The 911 call came from Mankato East High School as people there could see smoke and flames coming from the back of the house. While emergency crews were on the way, they were made aware that everyone inside the house was already out and safe.

When crews arrived, heavy fire was coming from a second-story window in the back of the house. Firefighters quickly entered and extinguished the fire. A back bedroom received the most fire damage with the remainder of the house impacted by the heat and smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage is expected to exceed $300,000. No one was injured.
