Mankato East High School Recognized by Minnesota Department of Education for Promoting Positive Behavior and Supporting Student Success
Mankato Area Public Schools proudly announces that Mankato East High School has been recognized by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) for its continued commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
The recognition, announced by MDE on Tuesday August 12, honors 93 schools and five districts across Minnesota that have demonstrated exceptional leadership in improving school climate, engaging the community, and supporting student success.
PBIS is an evidence-based framework designed to prevent problem behaviors, provide instruction and reinforcement for positive and cooperative conduct, and meet the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students. Schools using PBIS have been shown to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase student engagement, and improve academic outcomes.
For more than two decades, Minnesota schools have embraced PBIS to foster positive school climates. This year’s recognition reflects the sustained efforts of educators, students, and families who are dedicated to ensuring all learners feel supported and valued.
The official recognition will take place at a ceremony hosted by MDE Commissioner Willie Jett on August 14.
