Mankato East High School teacher Chris Ward has been recognized by the University of Minnesota with the Sarah L. Tilman Memorial Science Teacher Award. Ward received the honor after being nominated by former students who highlighted his engaging instruction, mentorship, and lasting impact on their academic and personal growth.
The Sarah L. Tilman Memorial Science Teacher Award celebrates outstanding science educators who inspire curiosity, center students in their learning, and build strong connections between classroom concepts and real-world applications. The award is presented each year at the University of Minnesota.
Ward teaches AP Biology, Biology, and Anatomy at Mankato East High School.
“He represents the very best of what teaching can be,” said Mankato East Principal Akram Osman. “He is passionate about science and deeply committed to his students. His enthusiasm makes learning meaningful, and his support helps students reach their full potential.”
The University of Minnesota recognized Ward at a campus ceremony on October 27th that brought together educators, students, and partners who support excellence in science education.
