Mankato Man Charged with Drug Possession in a Park Zone

A Mankato man with multiple active warrants was charged with possession of Methamphetamine in a school zone. Ricky Marquette Hearn of Mankato was charged Monday in Blue Earth County District Court with the following counts:

3rd Degree Possession of Methamphetamine/Amphetamine school zone, a park zone, a public housing zone, or a drug treatment facility, a Felony with a Maximum Sentence of 20 years or a $250,000, or both.

According to the criminal complaint in the early hours of January 12. 2025, Ricky Marquette Hearn was observed throwing an object on the sidewalk near Jackson Park before walking around a corner. Officers initiated a call for service and recovered the item Hearn threw, a sock containing a bulbous pipe commonly used to inhale/smoke illegal narcotics. A crystalline substance in the pipe later tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed .45 grams. A small plastic baggie containing white crystalline powder was also located in the sock. The powder tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed .75 grams.

Hearn had two active Blue Earth County warrants at the time of his arrest.
