Mankato Man Charged with Numerous Firearm, Possession Offenses

A Mankato man was charged with numerous firearm and drug possession offenses after being pulled over on January 24th. Ramone Lashawn Williams of Mankato was charged Thursday in Blue Earth County District Court with the following offenses:

2 Counts of Felony Firearm Violation, each carrying a Maximum Sentence of 15 Years or a $30,000 fine or both.

Receiving Stolen Property, a Felony with a Maximum Sentence of 20 years or a $100,000 fine, or both.

Carrying/Possessing a Pistol without a Permit in a Public Place, a Gross Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 364 days or a $3,000 fine, or both.

2nd Degree Drug Possession, a Gross Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 364 days or a $3,000 fine, or both.

3rd Degree Drug Sale, a Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 90 days or a $1,000 fine, or both. 

Cannabis open package – Possess in motor vehicle; Not compliant packaging or container, a Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 90 days or a $1,000 fine, or both. 

Driving After Revocation, a Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 90 days or a $1,000 fine, or both.

According to the criminal complaint on January 24th, officers observed a vehicle that appeared to be going in excess of the posted 50 mile-perhour speed limit. Officers used a radar to receive speeds of 73 mph and 79 mph. The vehicle went into a 65 mile-per-hour zone and Officers clocked the vehicle going 84 mph. After initiating a traffic stop officers identified the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle as Ramone Lashawn Williams. Williams driving privileges were revoked. Officers smelted an overwhelming order of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Search of the vehicle uncovered several clear baggies with suspected marijuana weighing about 216.33 grams. A pickle jar container also contained marijuana weighing approximately 391.70 grams. On Williams person was approximately $3,299.00 in US Currency.

In the glovebox Officers found a Glock 29 10 mm pistol. Inside the magazine, there was also unspent ammunition. The pistol came back as stolen when Officers ran the serial number.

Williams has prior crimes of violence convictions that prohibit him from possessing a firearm or ammunition, including felony domestic assault, felony 5th degree-controlled substance and felony aggravated robbery—2nd degree.
