Mankato Man Facing Felony Drug Charge Following Search Warrant Execution
A Mankato man is facing a felony drug possession charge after law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence on July 2. According to a criminal complaint filed in Blue Earth County District Court, 64-year-old James Barry Flanagan was charged with fifth-degree drug possession after police allegedly discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and prescription pills during the search of his home on Oxford Path.
The complaint states that officers with the drug task force announced their presence multiple times before forcing entry. Flanagan eventually opened the door, and officers conducted a full search of the home. Inside, they reportedly found multiple containers with a white crystal-like substance, several empty baggies, a digital scale with residue, and a Marlboro cigarette pack containing individually packaged substances and 19 carisoprodol pills—a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Flanagan allegedly admitted to using methamphetamine and told officers he sometimes sells the drug, but not within Mankato. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
