Mankato Woman Charged with Drug Possession and Damage to Property
A Mankato woman was charged after breaking a light fixture and using it as a smoking device. Hollie Burrell was charged in Blue Earth County District Court on Thursday with the following counts:
5th Degree Drugs Possession, a Felony with a Maximum Sentence of 5 years or a $10,000 fine, or both.
Damage to Property, a Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 364 days or a $3,000 fine, or both.
According to the criminal complaint: On January 15, 2025, officers of the Mankato Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a shelter in Mankato, Minnesota, Blue Earth County, on report of an individual that had broken property and was using it as a smoking device. Witnesses told dispatch the suspect was Hollie Burrell. Officers arrived and made contact with Burrell and witnesses.
Officers learned that Burrell had broken a lightbulb and was using it as a smoking device. Officers also learned the Burrell had broken the box mount that covers the lightbulb. Burrell admitted to breaking the lightbulb in order to use it as a smoking device. Burrell admitted to having methamphetamine in her jacket. Offices located Burrell’s jacket and obtained the suspected methamphetamine. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine weighed approximately 2.52 grams. The damage to the lightbulb and covering was estimated at approximately $550.
Burrell has a prior conviction.
