MAPS Vision Card Highlights Progress and Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) has shared its 2025 Vision Card, outlining the district’s goals and continued progress toward ensuring success for every student, every day. The Vision Card reflects the district’s commitment to excellence, equity, and empowerment through data-driven action and a focus on continuous improvement.
At the School Board’s first work session this fall, Superintendent Paul Peterson emphasized that the Vision Card serves as both a progress report on school improvement efforts and a check on the alignment between what happens in schools and the strategic direction set by the Board. Each goal measured in the Card aligns with MAPS’ strategic priorities of advancing professional practices, enhancing student support systems, developing and retaining talented staff, strengthening family partnerships and ensuring efficient and effective operations.
“Every indicator on our Vision Card shows that we are headed in the right direction,” said School Board Chair Shannon Sinning. “We are not only tracking data, but using it to shape decisions that make a real difference for students. From improving literacy rates and attendance to ensuring a strong, supportive learning environment, our focus remains on providing the best educational experience possible for every child.”
The 2024–2025 Vision Card outlines progress across multiple areas:
- Academic Growth: Kindergarten literacy rates, state assessment scores, and graduation rates continue to rise, showing the impact of targeted instruction and student-centered learning.
- Student Support: Attendance and sense of belonging are improving as MAPS strengthens social, emotional and mental health supports.
- Staff Development: The district is recruiting, developing, and retaining highly qualified staff, with growing participation in professional development and mentoring programs.
- Family Partnerships: Parent and caregiver satisfaction and engagement continue to increase through improved communication and collaboration.
- Operational Excellence: MAPS maintains strong financial stewardship while enhancing safety measures and staffing alignment to meet student needs.
Sinning added, “Our educators, families, and community partners play a critical role in this success. Together, we are creating opportunities for every learner to thrive in a supportive, innovative and inclusive environment.”
