Mason City Iowa Man Charged with Unlawful Imprisonment
A Mason City Iowa man was charged with false imprisonment after preventing a woman from leaving a hotel room. Jacob Huntley Woodstead of Mason City Iowa was charged Tuesday in Blue Earth County District Court with the following counts:
False Imprisonment-Intentional Restraint, a Felony with a Maximum Sentence of 3 years or a $5,000 fine, or both

Domestic Assault, a Misdemeanor with a Maximum Sentence of 90 days or a $1,000 fine, or both.
According to the criminal complaint: Shortly after midnight on January 11, 2025, officers from the Mankato Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a business in Blue Earth County on a domestic call for service. Reportedly, the victim told an employee at the business, that her boyfriend “threw her across the room”. The boyfriend was later identified as Jacob Huntley Woodstead. A little while later, a similar call went to dispatch from another business, apparently involving the same parties. When officers arrived, an employee there walked officers to a locked women’s bathroom, where the victim was located inside. Woodstead told officers that Woodstead and the victim have been dating for about 7 months and live together in Mason City, Iowa.
