Motorist Who Fled Police Ended Up in Creek

Mankato – 03/23/24 – Department of Public Safety officers were involved in the pursuit of a vehicle after the driver fled a traffic stop on Saturday evening around 7:40 p.m. in the 400 block of North 4th Street. The vehicle turned and went eastbound on Madison Avenue before turning northbound on North 5th Street. When the driver reached the dead end in the 1600 block of North 5th Street, he went over an embankment and into the creek/water retention pond. The male driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident. The male was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato by Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service with minor injuries. The driver faces potential charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle, driving while under the influence, and driving after revocation.
