After 40 years with the organization, and more than a decade leading it, CEO Brian Benshoof will retire January 13, 2023. Benshoof led the organization through many industry changes and through a pandemic, creating the “New MRCI” in 2021 with a move to community-based programming and adding virtual options. The organization, founded in 1953,  is strong today. We end the year serving more than 1,000 individuals and 2,800 families. Our person-centered, employment-first mindset has helped us impact not only those we serve, but the communities we serve in.

“Brian’s vision when he assumed the duties as CEO was to be the best provider for the people we serve.  Without question, he has enabled us to meet that standard with high quality programs, staff and services,” said Duane Olenius current MRCI Board President.

The public is invited to a retirement celebration to honor Benshoof’s service on Thursday, January 12 from 2 – 4:30 pm at the MRCI facility at 1750 Energy Drive in Mankato.

The MRCI Board is conducting the search for the next CEO of MRCI, taking its responsibilities very seriously.  The current leadership and staff will continue the strategic vision in the interim under board guidance.
