New Ulm House Damaged By Fire
On Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 5:42 pm, the New Ulm Fire Department, Police Department and Allina Ambulance were dispatched to a house fire at 1111 South Franklin Street.
Upon arrival, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the rear of the house. The lone occupant was already out of the house with the help of a neighbor. This occupant was later transported to the hospital. The fire originated in the kitchen with the cause still under investigation. There is heavy fire and smoke damage throughout the kitchen, and heavy smoke damage throughout the house. Fire crews had the fire under control in less than 30 minutes and were on scene for approximately 90 minutes. Smoke detectors were present and working.
