Plymouth Woman Injured in Crash Near Minneopa Golf Course Thursday
On July 3rd at 6:33 pm deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Bend Avenue and Pintail Street in rural Mankato near the Minneopa Golf Course. A 2005 Buick LaCrosse drove off the roadway, wedged between two trees, and caught fire.
Deputies identified the driver and only occupant as 60-year-old Susanne Renee Stephens Moe of Plymouth, MN. Susanne was unconscious in the driver’s seat, but responders were unable to reach her because the car was pinned between the trees.
Deputies and officers from the Mankato Department of Public Safety and Lake Crystal Police Department used a tow rope to pull the vehicle away from the trees while keeping the fire down with extinguishers.
Suzanne was removed from the vehicle and transported to MCHS in Mankato with non-life-threatening injuries. It is believed that alcohol contributed to the crash and charges are pending the results of chemical testing.
Off-duty members of the South Bend Fire Department happened to be at the golf course and quickly assisted while others responded with rescue and fire suppression equipment. Additional assistance was provided Mayo Ambulance personnel and the State Patrol.
