The Mankato Brewery hosted a fundraiser for local high school and middle school robotics teams on Saturday, March 9 from noon to 3 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m. with a band. Ten local teams from Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) participated in competitions statewide and teams from Mankato West have been state champions for the past eight years. The event was to raise money for the registrations and robot parts, which can cost thousands of dollars, most of which the school district does not cover. Matt Preis, an alumni of Mankato West and the robotics program, and Mark Jacoby, from Mankato West Robotics Parents Association (MWRPA), who is the group that helps raise funds for the program, were on hand to discuss the program and the fundraising efforts.
