Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation announces Prosperity Initiative clients
Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) is pleased to announce the newest members of the Prosperity Initiative, a program that promotes inclusive entrepreneurship and business growth in a 20-county region of southern Minnesota.
This program supports entrepreneurs from racial or ethnic minority groups and/or who identify as women, veterans, persons with a disability, people with income below the federal poverty threshold and/or LGBTQIA+ persons.
SMIF is pleased to welcome the following entrepreneurs to the Prosperity Initiative:
- Alira Coffman; Wren Writing, Byron: an all-in-one software toolset for authors from formatting to writing and the needs in-between.
- Christina Chen; Hope Technologies, Rochester: a startup aiming to design the optimal environment for persons living with dementia and other cognitive conditions by integrating innovative solutions into the day-to-day living space of long-term care and memory care facilities.
- Kayla Tschumper; My Birth Choices, Rochester: a birth consultant engaging mothers-to-be with the resources, tools, and mindset they need to feel prepared for giving birth.
- Melinda Jones; Trinity Homecare Services, Rochester: a service providing non-medical care to people in the comfort of their homes including bathing, light housekeeping, meal prep, companionship, respite care, shopping and more.
“We are excited to welcome and support the newest members of the Prosperity Initiative,” said Peggy Paul, SMIF entrepreneurship director. “Our goal is to coach and support entrepreneurs on their journey, so they emerge better equipped to succeed.”

One hundred clients have graduated from the Prosperity Initiative since its launch in 2016.
