Minnesota State Mankato’s 2022 Homecoming Week Begins Monday, Sept. 19

Minnesota State University, Mankato’s annual “Homecoming Week” begins Monday, Sept. 19 and continues through Saturday, Sept. 24 with a weeklong schedule of Homecoming week events that are free and open to the public.

The week begins Monday with a kickoff event from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Centennial Student Union mall.

Other free events during the week include a food-eating contest at 12 p.m. Wednesday in the Centennial Student Union Hearth Lounge and a Homecoming lip sync and coronation from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22 in the Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena.

The annual Homecoming bonfire and fireworks will begin at 8:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 (doors open at 7 p.m.) followed by a concert from 9-10 p.m., with American rapper B.o.B this year’s featured performer. General admission tickets are available free to the public while they last by registering online.

From 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, Minnesota State Mankato President Edward Inch will host the annual free community pancake breakfast at Blakeslee Stadium, which will be followed by the Homecoming parade from 12-1 p.m. on Warren Street and Stadium Road. The parade, which has been scheduled for more than 86 years, will feature floats from the community and University. “Mavericks Go to Hollywood” is the 2022 parade theme.

Saturday, Sept. 24 events
 include the Maverick football game against the University of Mary that will begin at 2 p.m. at Blakeslee Stadium. Dates and times of other athletic events are available online at msumavericks.com.

Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Theatre and Dance will perform “In the Next Room,” from Thursday, Sept. 21-Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Andreas Theatre. Tickets are available at MSUTheatre.com.

Minnesota State Mankato’s Homecoming has been in existence since 1928. Homecoming week offers students and alumni a way to display their pride and school spirit. Homecoming also allows the greater Mankato community a chance to learn about the university and take part in the celebrations.
