Subarctic Media – Radio Mankato has an immediate, full-time opening for an IT Technician.

We are a locally owned group of 19 radio stations in Southern Minnesota.  Our offices are in Mankato, Owatonna, Fairmont, Rochester, and Marshall.  This position will require some market-to-market travel, but the applicant would office out of Mankato.

This position will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of maintaining and expanding our IT infrastructure, as well as assisting users with their everyday needs.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter, strong communicator, creative problem-solver, and quick learner, and have an unwavering commitment to finding and delivering the best possible solution for any given challenge.

Experience working in a broadcast facility is a plus, but is NOT required… we’ll gladly teach you! The ideal candidate will be excited to learn about our broadcast-specific equipment, so they can work closely with our engineers on projects where IT, RF, and audio technologies intersect.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Willingness to always document your work, no matter how small the change
  • The ability to complete tasks in a well-planned, thorough, and security-minded manner (keeping systems available = staying on the air = happy listeners!)
  • Experience working with and supporting PC hardware
  • Experience working with and supporting Windows and Office 365
  • Experience with Microsoft server OSes and Active Directory
  • At least some basic experience in *NIX concepts and operations/administration
  • A working knowledge of basic TCP/IP concepts and commonly-used protocols
  • A basic skill set in routing and switching that is vendor-agnostic
  • Ability to perform basic wiring tasks (ie., can you make a Cat5/Cat6 patch cable?)
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and to work in a variety of settings (at a desk, at a workbench, on rackmounted equipment, etc)
  • Ability, both legally and physically, to drive a car, van, or other passenger vehicle for short trips between work sites.

The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of IT-related experience or a minimum of a 2-year degree.

Normally, AE’s work M-F, 8a-5p, but occasionally there will be evening or weekend activities for special events and client support and service.

This position requires working with local businesses to grow their respective business through increased sales, traffic or services. Be an On-Air Personality! Southern Minnesota’s live and local stations in Mankato is hiring! This opportunity rarely presents itself. Radio Mankato has been the lead station in the market for decades! We need an on-air show host who can keep us engaged on-air and online with our loyal listeners. A Full-Time or part-time position that includes Salary, PTO, 401k, and access to supplemental Health, Dental, and Vision insurance with an HSA.

This person is expected to complete daily production with radio ads, voice track shifts on other stations, live interviews, record clients, help produce radio ad campaigns with sales staff, live remotes during the week or weekends as well as other station promotions such as Home Show, Job Fair, County Fairs, and more.

The successful candidate will be organized, have good presentation and technical skills, add to a positive culture, and have aspirations of growth and increased responsibility.

Position responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Live daily air shifts
  • Appearances at station promotions and remote broadcasts
  • Commercial production and audio editing
  • Assisting newscasts on-air and covering and writing news stories
  • Engaging listeners through social media
  • Play by Play sports coverage experience would be a great plus, but not required
