Subarctic Media – Radio Mankato has an immediate, full-time opening for an IT Technician.

We are a locally owned group of 19 radio stations in Southern Minnesota.  Our offices are in Mankato, Owatonna, Fairmont, Rochester, and Marshall.  This position will require some market-to-market travel, but the applicant would office out of Mankato.

  • A commitment to quality work and follow-through in everything you do
  • The ability to stay organized in a rapidly changing environment, and prioritize tasks accordingly
  • A track record of working equally well as an individual and as a team member
  • Good communication with users – able to present concepts in a way that’s helpful, friendly, relatable
  • Grace under pressure – able to keep your cool in all situations, think rationally, and maintain the calm
  • Willingness to always document your work, no matter how small the change
  • The ability to complete tasks in a well-planned, thorough, and security-minded manner (keeping systems available = staying on the air = happy listeners!)
  • Experience working with and supporting PC hardware
  • Experience working with and supporting Windows and Office 365
  • Experience with Microsoft server OSes and Active Directory
  • At least some basic experience in *NIX concepts and operations/administration
  • A working knowledge of basic TCP/IP concepts and commonly-used protocols
  • A basic skill set in routing and switching that is vendor-agnostic
  • Ability to perform basic wiring tasks (ie., can you make a Cat5/Cat6 patch cable?)
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and to work in a variety of settings (at a desk, at a workbench, on rackmounted equipment, etc)
  • Ability, both legally and physically, to drive a car, van, or other passenger vehicle for short trips between work sites.

The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of IT-related experience or a minimum of a 2-year degree.
