First District Republican Congressman Brad Finstad says he fully supports extra funding from congress to recruit, retain and train law enforcement officers:

“Specifically to small communities like we have all over Minnesota so that’s been a strong focus for us and quite frankly it’s really a way for us to you know get rid of this narrative that so many folks have been trying to say for the last few years in regards to defunding the police.”

Finstad says crime is one of the top issues on people’s minds:

“We need to get real about this, you know, the increase in crime is real. And we’ve seen it We unfortunately have seen it play out right here and in Minnesota, you know, starting with, with a police precinct getting burned to the ground and some of the things that we’re seeing happen, you know, in our metro area.”

He says the legislation has cleared the House.
