Minnesota residents now have a state-specific page that provides resources and information on the proper use, storage, and disposal of medications.
St. Paul, April 11, 2024 – Furthering its mission to provide accessible options for the safe disposal of unwanted, unused, or expired household medicines, the Pharmaceutical Product Stewardship Work Group (PPSWG) today announced the launch of a Minnesota-focused educational effort as part of the national MyOldMeds campaign.
Minnesota residents can now access a state-specific resource page featuring a directory of over 500 secure medicine disposal options, a toolkit with shareable social media graphics, and more information about the free and easy-to-use resources available right now in their communities.
This effort is an expansion of MyOldMeds’ national education campaign centered on its easily searchable database of more than 22,000 secure household medicine disposal locations in all 50 states. MyOldMeds provides straightforward, easy-to-understand information on the proper use, storage, and disposal of household medications and is pleased to offer additional details on free, accessible resources for secure medicine disposal for Minnesota.
“We see a big opportunity to create more awareness of secure medicine disposal resources in Minnesota, where communities benefit from more than 500 free and secure disposal locations statewide,” said Anne Vogel-Marr, Executive Director of PPSWG. “We encourage Minnesotans to share the MyOldMeds resource page and locator with their friends and family and to have conversations about the importance of properly using, storing, and disposing of household medicines. This issue is too important, and we all have a role to play in informing those around us.”
The Minnesota resource page is available here. Resources include:
  • A toolkit with a statewide directory of secure medicine disposal locations, shareable social media graphics, PSA videos, and more
  • Information on the proper use, storage, and disposal of household medicines
  • The MyOldMeds locator with 526 easily searchable medicine disposal locations in Minnesota and more than 22,000 nationwide
