Highway 263 turned back to Martin County

The ownership of Highway 263 between Ceylon and Interstate 90 has officially been transferred from the Minnesota Department of Transportation to Martin County, effective today, April 1.

Highway 263 is from Ceylon to I-90 is now Martin County Road 263. MnDOT resurfaced Highway 263 in 2022, and completed other work along the highway, in preparation for the turnback of the highway to Martin County.

Highway 263 is one of several roadways that MnDOT is working to transfer to the appropriate government agency. Lower volume roadways, which are important at the county level, have a difficult time competing for funds with high volume highways in the state department.
