“Unprecedented cowardice,” says Republican challenger Scott Jensen about Governor Tim Walz refusing to debate him at this year’s Minnesota State Fair.  Jensen says Walz may be running for governor but the question is, what is he running *from*:

“Is he running from record inflation?…  Is he running from the fact that he didn’t put the National Guard on the streets, that he let the Third Precinct go down, that he let the Christopher Columbus statue get torn from his perch?  Is that what he’s running from?”

A Walz campaign spokesman responds the governor never agreed to debate at the State Fair, so he didn’t cancel his appearance as Jensen alleges.  The spokesman points to scheduling and other considerations and says a State Fair debate is not one the campaign could have accommodated — but he says the governor “will do more debates” in the future.
