Living with Alzheimer’s
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease comes with many challenges. Dustin Lee, president, and CEO of Prairie Senior Cottages says it’s also very expensive:
“We have chosen to serve exactly what the community represents as far as their economics and that means is half the people who move into our buildings are poor. And they’re reliant on the taxpayer in the government to provide for their care. And so it’s really important that we reflect the communities that we serve by serving the people who live in those communities.”
It’s estimated one in nine people age 65 and older have Alzheimer’s disease. Younger people may get Alzheimer’s but it is less common. Prairie Senior Cottages has memory care facilities in Albert Lea, Isanti, Hutchinson, New Ulm, New Richland, and Willmar
