A Mankato man was charged with Stalking and Violating a No Contact Order. Jason Samual Wilmes of Mankato was charged Friday in Blue Earth County District Court with the following counts:
Stalking, a Felony with a maximum sentence of 10 years or a$20,000 or both
Violating a No Contact Order – Within 10 years of the first of two or more convictions, a Felony with a maximum sentence of 30 days to 5 years or a $10,000 fine, or both.
According to the criminal complaint: around 4:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025, officers from the Mankato Department of Public Safety responded to
a 911 call reporting a violation of a Criminal Domestic Abuse No Contact Order (“DANCO”) at a residence in Blue Earth County. The caller, who was the victim, reported Jason Samual Wilmes violated a DANCO under which the victim is protected. The victim told Blue Earth County Dispatch that Wilmes was in the victim’s garage when the victim called. The victim reported to officers upon their arrival that Wilmes is able to control the operation of the victim’s garage door through the use of the MyQ mobile application. Wilmes also reportedly removed security equipment from the victim’s residence on multiple occasions, including a camera system and multiple locks. Wilmes, who also had access to the victim’s cellphone passwords, also repeatedly texted the victim. Officers confirmed this information by calling the same phone number and observing a phone ring
that law enforcement found on Wilmes following his arrest.
A DANCO was issued on November 6, 2024 which prohibits Wilmes from having “contact directly, indirectly or through others, in
person, by telephone, in writing, electronically or by any other means with the victim.” Wilmes was personally served by a Deputy Sheriff with a copy of the DANCO at the Blue Earth County Justice Center on November 6, 2024. Wilmes was convicted in the last ten years of four qualified domestic violence-related offenses.
