MY Place (Mankato Youth Place) is pleased to announce the launch of our capital campaign. It is the mission of MY Place to provide a nurturing environment that empowers youth to build the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to reach their full potential. Since opening our doors over 4 years ago we have provided after school programming, summer programming and full day distance learning support throughout the pandemic for youth in kindergarten through eighth grade.

MY Place purchased 1315 Stadium Road in December 2022 from the City of Mankato. Prior to opening our doors, we have been drawn to the MSU/Rosa Parks neighborhood and were thrilled to have the opportunity to purchase an amazing property there. “The capital campaign will allow us to turn this property into a fantastic space for the youth of our community” says Andy Nessler, MY Place Board Chair.

MY Place has been working on raising funds to support the purchase and remodel of this space for the last few months. Thanks to the generosity of early donations from 2 individuals, the Andreas Foundation and MEI we were able to build a strong foundation. In January, the Glen A. Taylor Foundation announced their gift to include $750,000 in 2023 and an additional matching gift in 2024. “Their gift is not only generous but is inspiring others to give. We will be working hard in the months to come to raise the match, allowing us to maximize everyone’s donation” says Erin Simmons, Executive Director.

MY Place provides youth with programs to support success in school including distance learning and homework help, a healthy lifestyle, art, music and character and leadership skills to prepare them to become contributing community members. While registration is required, there is no cost to participate in the program which ensures that all youth in our community have access to great opportunities.
