There’s a bipartisan push at the Minnesota Legislature to combat the fentanyl crisis and growing number of opioid overdoses.  Representative Dave Baker of Willmar says he’s sponsoring a bill to increase prosecution of the fentanyl dealers:

“These people that are having intent to sell fentanyl with a certain number of pills or grams on them, they’re going to go to jail for a long time. We are not trying to hurt people that have a pills on them and they are using, and they don’t know where to go to get help,”

Baker says too many victims are accidentally overdosing on Xanax, Percocet and other pills that are mixed with fentanyl.  The state has money from settlements with the pharmaceutical companies for opioid prevention and education programs.
