Republicans continue blasting the Walz administration’s handling of the 250-million-dollar fraud in the “Feeding Our Future” program.  State Representative Steve Drazkowski from Mazeppa in southeast Minnesota says state law required the Education Department promptly notify the legislative auditor of suspected fraud, but they didn’t:

“Had the governor and his agency followed the law, it would have saved taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.  It would have had the food actually delivered potentially to the people that were supposed to get it.”

Governor Walz says state agencies tipped off federal investigators to the fraud, resulting in dozens of criminal indictments.  House G-O-P Minority Leader Kurt Daudt says the state could have stopped it sooner if it had done site visits, accessed financial records and stopped payments to “Feeding Our Future.”
