Trial underway for Mother who Allegedly Killed her Son

The trial for a mother accused of killing her 6-year-old son is underway.

28-year-old Julissa Thaler was charged after investigators found Eli Hart’s body in her trunk during a traffic stop in Orono last year. Originally facing second-degree murder charges, Thaler was indicted on upgraded charges by a grand jury earlier this month, one count each of first-degree murder and second-degree murder. Prosecutors say Thaler murdered Eli with a shotgun, then placed his body in the trunk of her car. Police pulled Thaler over on a traffic stop after noticing the vehicle had the rear window shot out and was missing a front tire.
