Two Vehicle Crashes Reported in Sibley County January 23

WINTHROP — On January 23, around 9 a.m., Sibley County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash on MNTH 15, about 1/4-mile south of County Road 10. The crash happened in Transit Township about 3 miles north of Winthrop. Emma Neet, 20, of New Ulm, was driving a 2005 Chevy Malibu northbound on 15. Neet had passed a semi-tractor trailer and lost control of her vehicle on the ice-covered roadway. Her vehicle entered the ditch and rolled once. She was wearing her seatbelt. Neet didn’t report any injuries to deputies according to the report. Her vehicle was damaged moderately but not drivable. Winthrop police, fire & rescue and ambulance all responded to the scene.

Also, on January 23, around 8:30 a.m. Sibley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle crash about 1/3 mile south of 330th Street, again on MNTH 15, but in rural Alfsborg Township. Thomas Blickem, 67, of New Ulm, was driving a 2006 Chevy Colorado pickup southbound on 15 when he lost control of it and crossed the roadway across the northbound lane and hit a powerline pole. Blickem was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Minnesota State Patrol, Lafayette Fire Department, Lafayette Ambulance and Allina Ambulance assisted at the scene.
