USDA Designates 6 Minnesota Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas
(St. Paul, MN) — The U-S-D-A is designating six Minnesota counties as primary natural disaster areas in response to severe and extreme drought last growing season. The Secretarial designation makes emergency loans available to producers recovering from natural disasters. The funding can be used to replace equipment or livestock, to reorganize a farming operation or refinance certain debt. The six primary counties are Blue Earth, Chisago, Goodhue, Meeker, Sherburne and Watonwan. Twenty-five contiguous counties are also eligible for emergency loans through the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
