UPDATE: Classes Resume as Normal Friday at Kennedy Elementary after Vehicle Crashes into Building
Kennedy Elementary has been cleared as safe to resume classes Friday after a vehicle crashed into the building Thursday morning. Mankato Area Public Schools released a statement on the incident:
“This morning, February 6th, at approximately 8:27 AM, Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) received a report that a car drove into the side of Kennedy Elementary School building. Emergency responders were immediately contacted.
As a precaution, all students and staff were safely evacuated to Mankato East High School. Families of Kennedy Elementary students were informed about transportation options to return students home. MAPS facilities and engineers have inspected the building and confirmed that it is safe for students and staff to return to the building. At this time, no injuries have been reported.
Classes at Kennedy Elementary will resume as normal on Friday, February 6th, 2025.
The district will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.”
