Blue Earth County deputies were led on a pursuit of a vehicle yesterday that had previously fled deputies in another county and authorities are seeking the suspect after he fled on foot, authorities say.
Deputies responded to western Blue Earth County searching for a car that fled Brown County deputies earlier. They located the suspected 2012 red Chrysler 200 just before 1:15 a.m. near Lake Crystal, according to a news release from Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office Captain Paul Barta.
Once located by deputies, the suspect still refused to stop and led them on a vehicle pursuit on tar and gravel roads west of Lake Crystal. Deputies were to able to bring the chase to an end by deploying Stop Stick tire deflation devices on the road. However, the suspect then fled on foot and has not yet been caught and taken into custody.
Barta said 25-year-old Sean Eric Vanmeveren of Garvin is the suspected driver during the car chase but is also suspected of stealing a red 2012 GMC Sierra pickup truck with MN license plate 733KMU. The theft allegedly took place in the same general area overnight near Lake Crystal.
Vanmeveren is the suspect in multiple pursuits, has warrants for his arrest and involvements throughout Redwood and neighboring southwestern Minnesota counties. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
