DHS Chief Facing Tough Questions From Lawmakers Over Financial Controls
(St. Paul, MN) — The head of the Minnesota Department of Human Services is facing tough questions from lawmakers concerning the agency’s internal processes. A state Senate hearing was held yesterday, where lawmakers accused agency leadership of failing to oversee tens of millions of dollars in housing grants. Some lawmakers are calling for the dismantling of the large department over its history of financial controls. An auditor’s review found no evidence of misspent funds or fraud, but couldn’t assure lawmakers that fraud didn’t occur.
