Empire Becomes Minnesota’s Newest City Today
(Empire, MN) — Minnesota is gaining a new city today. Empire Township will officially become the city of Empire during a swearing in ceremony this evening. This comes after a Valentine’s Day special election, in which the community of 32-hundred people voted on their first-ever mayor and city council. Soon-to-be mayor Trent Larson says this allows Empire to solidify its borders and plan for the future as more people are expected to move there. Empire is located about 30 miles southeast of the Twin Cities.
