Scouts from across south central Minnesota collected 61,038 pounds of food for 21 local food pantries this past weekend.  Approximately 1,100 Scouts, leaders, and parents put in over 3,000 service hours while conducting this annual service project.

Since the early 1980’s, Scouts have conducted this annual “Good Turn” not only help those in need, but also to teach Scouts about service to others.  “Do a Good Turn Daily” is the Scout slogan;  “Help other people at all times” is part of the Scout Oath; and “A Scout is Helpful” is one of the 12 points of the Scout Law.  This annual project is just one of the ways Scouting helps instill these values in young people.

Scouting America, Twin Valley Council serves 15 counties in south central Minnesota.  Scouts from across the region took part in this important project that helps those with food insecurity in our communities.
