Authorities Respond to Airplane Crash in Olmsted County

On March 9, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a person who witnessed a small plane crash in the area near the 2700 block of County Road 16 Southwest in High Forest Township. Deputies located the plane crash on private property a short time later. The pilot, and sole occupant of the plane, was located by the complainant and given a ride to a nearby area where they could be seen by medical personnel. Mayo Clinic Ambulance Services (MCAS) responded to the scene and transported the pilot to the hospital for an evaluation. The pilot was walking on their own accord, and the extent of injuries from the accident is unknown.

Additionally, the Stewartville Fire Department and Rochester Fire Department responded to assist with the crash. The airplane is described as a smaller single-engine plane. Olmsted County contacted the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which will assist with investigating the accident. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information is available.
