Bill to improve safety at meat and processing plants clears first committee
A bill aimed at improving safety standards at Minnesota’s meat and processing plants got a jump start in a Minnesota House committee Tuesday. Greg Endres with Greg’s Meats Processing in Hampton says about ventilation changes that would be required:
“A lot of the meat processors have plants that are 50/75 years old they were never designed to do this. I mean it would be just you would shut them down.”
Some in the industry fear legislative requirements would have an impact on smaller operations which, in the end, would lead to the shutting down of smaller operations.
