A lot of Minnesota voters and the governor are hoping state lawmakers legalize recreational cannabis in 2023.  Democrats will have control of both the House and Senate.  Representative Mike Freiberg of Golden Valley:

“I’ve certainly heard positive statements from individual Senate Democrats. It’s a very narrow majority in the Senate so any individual senator could play an outsized role in what it ends up looking like. But I am hopeful that we’ll be able to get a good bill passed.”

The bill that passed the House last session received several Republican votes.  Freiberg says any new measure would include a robust regulatory framework,  expungement of some marijuana offenses, and public health protections.
