U-S Senator Tina Smith and Representatives Dean Phillips and Angie Craig are touting what they say are the health care benefits in the Inflation Reduction Act.  The Minnesota Democrats appeared at the Protect Our Care bus tour event at the state Capitol Thursday.   Senator Tina Smith says the law will lower prescription drug costs and make health insurance more affordable:

“The price of insulin for Medicare beneficiaries will be capped at 35 dollars a month and finally Medicare will have the authority to negotiate with the big drug companies for lower prescription drug costs  just like we do today at the Veterans Administration.”

Smith also says health insurance premiums will go down by hundreds of dollars for 85 thousand Minnesotans who purchase coverage through MNsure.  The Minnesota Republican Party said in a statement, “the Inflation Reduction Act has done nothing but further drive up prices. “
