East softball takes 3rd; East and Maple River advance to State in Baseball

SOFTBALL

The Mankato East Softball took 3rd place at the Class 3A State tournament, as the top seeded Cougars beat the 2nd seed Chisago Lakes 2-1 Scoreless game until the top of the 6th, when the Wildcats would take the lead 1-0. In the bottom of the 6th Cougars had runners on 2nd and 3rd and nobody out, and a bunt back to the pitcher was thrown home trying to cut off the runner but it got away from the catcher, both runners scored to make 2-1. East again takes 3rd the finishes the season with a 22-5 record

LCWM lost in the Class AA Consolation final 1-0 Spectrum. The Knights wrap up the season 24-4

 

BASEBALL

Section 2, 3A Final, top seed East beat 2nd seed West 6-3 to advance to the state tournament for the 2nd year in a row. The Cougars will start state tournament action on Wednesday at the mini met in Jordan

 

Sec 2, 2A Final

8th seed LCWM won 4 to 2 over 3rd seeded Maple River and forced a decisive 2nd game, which Maple River won 6-3 to advance to state. Eagles will begin State Wednesday in St Cloud. Brackets come out on Saturday
