East softball takes 3rd; East and Maple River advance to State in Baseball

SOFTBALL

The Mankato East Softball took 3^rd place at the Class 3A State tournament, as the top seeded Cougars beat the 2^nd seed Chisago Lakes 2-1 Scoreless game until the top of the 6^th, when the Wildcats would take the lead 1-0. In the bottom of the 6^th Cougars had runners on 2^nd and 3rd and nobody out, and a bunt back to the pitcher was thrown home trying to cut off the runner but it got away from the catcher, both runners scored to make 2-1. East again takes 3^rd the finishes the season with a 22-5 record

LCWM lost in the Class AA Consolation final 1-0 Spectrum. The Knights wrap up the season 24-4

BASEBALL

Section 2, 3A Final, top seed East beat 2^nd seed West 6-3 to advance to the state tournament for the 2^nd year in a row. The Cougars will start state tournament action on Wednesday at the mini met in Jordan

Sec 2, 2A Final

8^th seed LCWM won 4 to 2 over 3^rd seeded Maple River and forced a decisive 2^nd game, which Maple River won 6-3 to advance to state. Eagles will begin State Wednesday in St Cloud. Brackets come out on Saturday
