Ed Dept: Mental health services available to many MN students

Now that Minnesota students are back in school, State Education Commissioner Heather Mueller says it’s a time for more of a return to “normalcy” after the disruptions of COVID. Mueller says students’ mental health is a priority and she says federal funding has helped in many schools. On the state level…

“We have had that as part of a legislative ask over the last couple of years and we believe it is continuing to be important and that is something that we are going to continue to ask for is to increase funding to our schools.”

Mueller says some schools are already utilizing federal and state funds for ongoing mental health support, but not all schools are.
