Gov. Walz meets with King Harald V during official visit to Norway
The day opened (10am Norway time) with a meeting with the King of Norway, Harald the Fifth, as Governor Tim Walz continues his official visit (Thurs) to that Scandinavian nation with strong ties to Minnesota. The king and Queen Sonja visited Duluth in October 2011 to rededicate newly-restored Enger Tower — the historic landmark high on the bluff over Lake Superior which the king’s father originally dedicated in 1939:
“Enger Tower will continue to be a symbol of the hard work and dedication of the Norwegian immigrants, and their stories will continue to be told to future generations of Americans.”
At a luncheon (12pm Norway time) Governor Walz gives a presentation promoting Minnesota as a destination for business and investment, then meets (130pm Norway time) with the president of the Storting, Norway’s Supreme Legislature. There’s an evening reception (5pm Norway time) to celebrate the cultural, business, and military ties between Minnesota and Norway.
