Grand Marais Man Charged For Deadly Beating

(Grand Marais, MN)  –  A Grand Marais man is facing charges for the deadly beating of a 77-year-old man.  Twenty-seven-year-old Levi Axtell is being held on a one-billion dollar bail after being charged with second-degree murder for Lawrence Scully’s death.  Axtell allegedly killed Scully with a shovel and a moose antler, then confessed to the authorities.  Court documents say Axtell believed Scully, who was previously convicted of child sexual assault, was stalking his daughter.
