Highway 22 Mankato to St. Peter Reopening for Winter Months Starting Today

The detour for the Highway 22 Mankato to St. Peter project is expected to be lifted by 4 p.m. today, Nov. 24. Watch for limited traffic impacts as crews continue minor work over the winter.
2025 work included:
  • Reconstruction on the northern and southern ends of Highway 22
  • A new roundabout at Highway 22 and Hill Street near Kasota
  • A channelized acceleration lane from Blue Earth Co. Rd. 57 to northbound Highway 22
  • New turn and passing lanes for safety
  • Bridge repairs and better lighting
  • Prep work for a future walking/biking trail between Mankato and St. Peter, and a pedestrian underpass near Kasota (they remain closed for safety).
What’s next (2026):
  • Construction resumes spring 2026 to reconstruct the middle section of Highway 22
  • Work on the Rabbit Rd. Bridge near Kasota
